Vaccine Ingredients

I hardly knew anything about vaccines before having my daughter, but like they say, having kids changes everything. Especially when it’s their lives being impacted by your choices. When I initially started learning about vaccines, it was like a trickle of water, picking up bits and pieces of information here and there. I was cautious, and slightly concerned about the safety, but still believed in the efficacy of vaccines. I am sad to say that for two or three years, it was really just a trickle. Then came the day that the floodgates burst open and the break just happened to come from the CDC’s own website – the excipient list.

I had heard from a family member that there were aborted fetal DNA in vaccines. I was both shocked and horrified by this revelation, how could this be so? How could I have never heard this before? As someone staunchly pro-life, I felt that information should have come up at least once or twice before, but no, nothing. I had to check this out for myself, so I looked up the list of ingredients for vaccines on the CDC’s website. 1 I scanned the massive list of ingredients for each vaccine and found some familiar and unsettling words, but even more so, I found a lot of words and letter/number combinations that I had no idea what they meant. So, I started researching, and this is what I found:

Aluminum: Aluminum is used as an adjuvant in most vaccines. An adjuvant is a substance that enhances the body’s immune response to a pathogen (bacteria or virus). It is also a known neurotoxin, which means it has the ability to destroy nerve tissue, like the brain. 2, 3, Scientific studies have also shown a highly significant correlation between aluminum-adjuvanted vaccines and diagnosis of autism spectrum disorder. 4

Formaldehyde: The Environmental Protection Agency states that “Formaldehyde is a colorless, flammable gas at room temperature and has a strong odor. Exposure to formaldehyde may cause adverse health effects.” 5 Also, the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) classifies formaldehyde as a human carcinogen. 6

Polysorbate 80: Polysorbate 80 is a chemical used as an emulsifying agent that’s added to several things from food to cosmetics to vaccines. Polysorbate 80 (or Tween 80, as it’s occasionally referred to on the excipient list) is able to open the blood brain barrier. 7 As such, one should consider each ingredient being injected alongside Polysorbate 80 and the effect of those ingredients being able to cross through the BBB into the brain (think aluminum, thimerosal, etc.).

Monosodium Glutamate (MSG): Wait, MSG is that “super salt” they put in Chinese food to make it extra tasty, right? Yes, and it’s also used as a stabilizer in certain vaccines. Sounds pretty harmless, right? Wrong! MSG is classified as an excitatory neurotoxin, or excitotoxin and “can freely penetrate certain brain regions and rapidly destroy neurons”. 8 Excitotoxins are also known to “overstimulate certain neurons in the brain causing them to continue firing until they tire themselves and die.” 9 Studies have shown that this excitotoxin response may trigger certain degenerative diseases such as ALS, Parkinson’s and Alzheimers. 9

Animal derived materials: Cow (Fetal bovine serum, Fenton Medium containing a bovine extract, calf serum); Dog (Madin Darby Canine Kidney (MDCK) cell protien); Monkey (African green monkey kidney cells); Chicken (chick embryo cell culture, chicken fibroblasts); and Pig (hydrolized porcine gelatin, DNA from porcine circoviruses).

Some people are religiously or otherwise opposed to the use of certain animal products, such as people of Jewish ethnicity and/or culture oppose the consumption of pork products and Hindus are opposed to the consumption of bovine products. Some people such as those who eat a vegan diet are opposed to the consumption of animal products in general, and most vaccines contain one or more of the above listed animal ingredients.

Common allergens: Milk products (casein and lactose), food dyes (FD&C Yellow #6 aluminum lake dye), antibiotics (neomycin, polymyxin B, kanamycin, gentamycin sulfate, aminoglycoside, streptomycin, and chlortetracycline,) soy (soy peptone) egg (egg proteins, ovalbumin).

Food allergies are becoming increasingly more common with an estimated 32 million Americans being affected. According to Food Allergy Research & Education, the CDC reported the number of children with food allergies increased 50 percent between 1997 and 2011. 10 Considering the primary objective of a vaccine is to build a strong antibody response to the materials that make up a vaccine, I don’t believe it’s a coincidence that many people have allergies to one or more of the substances listed above. In fact, milk, soy and eggs are three of the top 8 most allergenic foods. 10

Thimerosal: Nearly 50% ethyl mercury by weight, thimerosal is used as a preservative in some vaccines and is considered to be a highly toxic substance. While thimerosal was removed from most* vaccines by the year 2001, there are a few vaccines that still contain large amounts of thimerosal, including multi-dose flu vaccines. And while this subject is hotly debated, there is epidemiological evidence supporting the association between thimerosal containing vaccines given in childhood and a diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). 11 In fact, children who received thimerosal containing vaccines were significantly more likely to develop neurodevelopmental disorders such as autism, mental retardation, speech disorders, personality disorders and thinking abnormalities than the children who were given thimerosal free vaccines. 12 Take into account that thimerosal has the ability to cross the blood-brain barrier and the placental barrier, and then ask yourself if doctors should really be pushing the flu shot on their pregnant patients.

*For more information on Thimerosal, please read this article by Robert F. Kennedy Jr. :https://childrenshealthdefense.org/what-we-do/mercury-is-not-safe-in-any-form-debunking-the-myths-about-thimerosal-safety/

And finally, as it turns out, my family member was right, there is aborted fetal DNA in vaccines.

Aborted Fetal DNA: These ingredients are “disguised” in the excipient list as WI-38 human diploid lung fibroblasts, MRC-5 cells, human serum, and human serum albumin. WI-38 is from a 16 week old female baby from an elective abortion in the early 1960’s. MRC-5 was derived from a 14 week old male baby in 1966. But don’t be fooled into thinking these were the only babies aborted for use in vaccines, because unfortunately, there were many more. Besides the moral issue here, just consider for a moment what the potential genetic and health consequences could be from injecting one person’s genetic material into another.

Are doctors or nurses checking for allergies to these ingredients prior to administration of vaccines? Are they asking if you or your child eat a vegan diet and would object to the injection of multiple animal parts into your child’s body? Are you a Christian or someone who morally objects to aborted fetal DNA being injected into your body or that of your child? Are you of the Jewish faith and reject all pork products, such as hydrolyzed porcine gelatin found in some vaccines? Did your doctor ask you these questions? Does your doctor know these ingredients are in vaccines? If not, pleases feel free to use the information here to educate your physician so they can do a more thorough job in the future to educate their patients about the ingredients in vaccines.

This is by no means an extensive list of all the ingredients in vaccines, their purposes or the harm they cause. This blog post is not intended as medical advice, but as an educational tool to learn more about some of the main ingredients in vaccines.

  1. Sadly, one ingredient you missed is all the extra stuff that these companies try to clean out, but the stuff still slips through… wasn’t this how all those people got that monkey virus that causes cancer? So sad. They don’t even know what all slips into their own vaccines…

    1. True. SV-40 was a contaminant in vaccines that gave many people cancer. I couldn’t go through all the ingredients in vaccines because that is quite an extensive list, so I chose what I felt were the most important ones to discuss. Vaccines have been shown to have many contaminants, and because they are considered biologics, not drugs, they are legally not required to list all of the ingredients. So who knows what else could be in vaccines!
